I have been involved with private SME businesses since joining the family firm in 1977.
People say to me that I am passionate about rescue and restructure of businesses. Actually I am, but helping business people get advice, properly and pragmatically is also my aim. I am not like that accountant or lawyer you may meet who when asked his advice says...."Well you could do that or this, but I cannot advise you what to do", ever heard that before? So back to the family firm. It suffered disastrously from the recession of 1990-2 and I started helping people turn around or close their companies. I joined a first class insolvency firm in Chelsea in 1995 that focused on rescue of companies and was hooked by helping people understand how to turnaround their company.
Then I helped launch a venture capital firm in 1999 that invested several £m in SME turnarounds. Whilst trying to bridge the gap between distressed companies and GOOD ADVICE, I came up with the idea of using the internet to provide information to people and companies with solvency problems.
So in 2000 I launched the UK's first online advice site called www.companyrescue.co.uk more than 600,000 people have been helped by that site. It has 400 plus pages and lots of good advice. It is all free to use and we welcome comments or suggestions for improvements.
