The number of liquidations in the first 3 months of 2008 is up some 25% on 2007. The credit crunch has resulted in lower consumer spending and lots of small companies are suffering.
In England and Wales compulsory liquidation was down 6.6% on the previous quarter and a 22% fall on the same period in 2007. BUT there were 2,125 creditors' voluntary liquidations.
This was an increase of 25.4% on the first quarter of 2007.

Well interest rates are up again, so costs will rise for borrowers. This could have an impact on business in two ways. One is the possible slow down for business (that the Bank Of England clearly wants) as a result of lower consumer spending, as borrowing is dearer on mortgages for example. The second is higher costs for business.
If your company's problem keep growing, talk to us now for some ideas on closure or indeed company rescue options.
Happy New Year to all our readers! We predict a tough few months for many SME companies in the UK. Higher interest rates, more red tape and higher taxes may add up to tighter cashflow. If you have any worries about future cashflow or business problems give us a call on 01289 333124.
